Hello! It’s been quite a number of months since I was appointed to be the new Rector of Bourton-on-the-Water with Clapton and the Rissingtons, and it is so lovely to finally be here and settling into village life. I look forward to getting to know many of you over the coming months and years, but thought I’d take this chance to introduce myself as well.
I hail originally from Brisbane, Australia and began my career in education, training as a teacher and working for many years in Outdoor Education. I also enjoy travelling (as many Aussies do) and during my globetrotting spent time volunteering with the Iona Community, an ecumenical Christian community, based on the isle of Iona in the inner Hebrides, Scotland, which has a passion for a contemporary faith that connects with the needs of the world. I returned a number of times, spending almost five years living and working there, eventually running one of the centres. It remains a special place to me, as it was also where I met my husband, Malcolm.
My time there led me into school chaplaincy and into training for ordination and eventually to my curacy, which I recently completed in Dursley.
Alongside ministry, I still enjoy the outdoors and you’ll often find me exploring local footpaths, especially if there is a good pub lunch en route(recommendations always welcome!). I also enjoy sewing and breadmaking and reading bedtime stories to my daughter Elizabeth – we’ve just finished Anne of Green Gables, a particular favourite.
So, do please stop and say “Hello” when you see me around, I’d love to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to meeting many of you at my induction at St Lawrence’s on the 10th October.
Peace and Blessings,
