Last October the current Beaver leaders announced that they would be leaving Beavers in July 2020. To date we have had no volunteers expressing an interest. Unless volunteers come forwards the Beaver colony will cease to exist in July.
If you can spare some time to help keep the thriving Beaver colony going, please get in touch. Whatever time or skills you can commit will be a huge help, nothing is too small to make a difference. If you don’t want to be centre stage, there are plenty of opportunities to provide support ‘behind the scenes’.
It is the perfect time to get involved, as you still have a few months to learn the ropes from our current leaders, who are keen to pass on their knowledge and experience.
Beavers is part of the Scouting movement, for young people aged 6 – 8. It gives our youngsters an opportunity to learn through play and give them experiences that schools aren’t set up to provide, building their confidence and knowledge and helping them feel confident in the world.
As part of the Scouting movement, volunteers always have a huge wealth of resources and back up to help them provide the experiences our Beavers enjoy. This goes from the local Bourton Scout group, through to a national and international support network of volunteers.
To keep the Beavers alive we need volunteers to orm a new team to guide our young people – will you be part of it, or do you know someone who could help us? Please get in touch with any of the Beavers, Cubs or Scout Leaders.
