Digital Foundation Course
Digital Foundation Course
1st September 2026 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
George Moore Community Centre, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham GL54 2AZ, UK
Digital inclusion and support
Do you struggle to use your digital devices?
Are you scared of being scammed or hacked?
Are you missing friends or family?
If so, we may have the answer.
GRCC is working with the NHS in the North Cotswolds to improve health outcomes for people via digital technology.
The service runs a drop-in digital support group in Bourton on the Water on Tuesday mornings (10.30am-12.30pm) at the George Moore Centre where people can call in with their devices to get help there and then. It is also hoped to expand the number of drop-in sessions to different towns and venues to ensure the whole region can access support. There is also a FREE eleven week course on digital basics starting on Tuesday 13th August at the same venue. The course will cover topics such as email, online safety, storage and online banking.
Jason – the Digital and Technology Inclusion Social Prescribing Link Worker - can take referrals from GP’s, individuals and organisations working in the area. Jason can offer 1-2-1 support to develop skills, knowledge and confidence. Examples of support include:
If using the NHS App might help to make getting prescriptions or appointments easier, he can assist with training to use the app.
If you lack confidence to get online and stay safe and this is negatively impacting things like income, anxiety levels, ability to manage your health or relieve isolation, the service can offer support in these areas too.
If you or someone you know might benefit from the course or 1-2-1 support, contact Jason via email at: Jason.Spinney1@nhs.net or via phone on 07707 281803. If you would like Jason to explain more to your group, get in touch.

We are pleased to announce the start of the Friendly Memory Cafe, on October 13th between 2 till 4pm at St Lawrence's Church. Then it will be the 2nd and 4th Fridays in the month. This matches the Stow Cafe which runs on the 1st and 3rd Friday at the Stow Baptist Church. So, something on each week for carers and those they look after to get support and advice, but all are welcome, especially volunteers! A flyer will be going round the village, but for any more information do ring Kathy Chesters on 07746 672726 or Bill Wragge on 01451 821351. Our plan is to establish cafes in Moreton and Campden so there is consistent help across the north Cotswolds.
Look forward to seeing you and having your support .

So, something on each week for carers and those they look after to get support and advice, but all are welcome, especially volunteers! A flyer will be going round the village, but for any more information do ring Kathy Chesters on 07746 672726 or Bill Wragge on 01451 821351. Bourton Roadrunners Half Marathon (Road Closures)
Bourton Roadrunners Half Marathon (Road Closures)
27th September 2026 @ 8:30 am - 9:15 am
Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham, UK
Bourton Half Marathon
Sunday, 27th September
Bourton Roadrunners hosts its annual Half Marathon from 9am on Sunday 27th September. We’re always very grateful to residents of Bourton, and the surrounding villages that the race passes through, for their patience and tolerance around any disruption this causes.
We will be encouraging runners to use the main car parks in the village and do our best to discourage people from parking on residential streets or at the leisure centre.
The Race HQ is at Greystones Farm. The race starts on Cemetery Lane and goes via Station Road, Moore Road and Sherborne Street up The Steeps and onwards to Goms Hole. From there the route goes to Farmington, Sherborne, Clapton on the Hill and to Leasow Lane via Newbridge Lane. The final stage of the course is along Rissington Road and to Greystones Farm via Rye Close, Cemetery Lane and Greystones Lane.
There will be some very short duration road closures at the start of the race: Cemetery Lane 08.50am-09.05am; Station Road (from Cemetery Lane to Moore Road) 08.55am-09.05am and the High Street/Lansdowne/Moore Road junction from 09.00am-09.15am. Marshals will be in place to direct traffic. We’d be extremely grateful if people could avoid driving along these roads from 08.50am-09.15am.
The course is “undulating” and all the runners have to dig deep to complete it. Any encouragement from local residents along the route would be really appreciated by many!
Once again, we donate most of the surplus from our races to charity. This year, Bourton Roadrunners is supporting Prostate Cancer UK, Bourton Rovers Juniors, Headspace and Kate’s Home Nursing.
If you have any questions about this year’s Bourton Half Marathon or would like to volunteer to marshal or help, please email brr.memsec@gmail.com or leave a message on our Facebook page. Ian Tolfts
